Working Lands Grant Opportunities
Vermont's working lands are an important part of what makes our state—and the Northeast Kingdom in particular—such a special place to live and work.
The Working Lands Enterprise Initiative (WLEI) makes strategic investments and develops policy recommendations that support a resilient and sustainable farm, food, and forest economy in Vermont. Applications are now being accepted for grants that will be distributed in 2027. The deadline to submit is December 10, 2026, and grant recipients will be notified of funding decisions by early March 2027. Grant amounts range from $10,000 to $50,000 and can be used for equipment, infrastructure development, market development, research and development, and workforce training and development.
Eligible applicants include:
Farms producing food for animal or human consumption and/or fiber products.
Logging businesses, sawmills, and firewood producers.
Value-added food and fiber businesses.
Wood or agricultural products trucking and distribution.
Secondary wood businesses, such as woodworkers or manufacturers and pellet mills.
