Brief History: Westfield was chartered in 1780. It was granted as part of a fundraising effort along with 5 other towns. The first and only post office was started in the village in 1830.
General Area Info: Westfield is a fairly rural town which Route 100 runs through. It is mainly a farming community that includes Berry Creek Farm (an organic vegetable farm), Butterworks Farm (specializes in yogurt and cream), and Lazy Lady Farm (organic goat cheese) along with a number of dairy farms. Westfield is neighbored to the north by Jay, Vermont, home of Jay Peak Resort. It is also home to a fairly large Catholic Monastery.
Attractions: Missisquoi, Hitchcock Memorial Library & Museum, Degre Auction Service, Balance Rock.
Recreational Activities: Hiking, biking, snowmobiling, close to Jay Peak Ski Resort.
