Volunteers Stepping Up in the NEK

On Saturday, August 3, volunteers gathered to remove debris from the recent flooding from the ½-mile long public beach at Seymour Lake in Morgan.

Town crews and businesses have been working tirelessly to repair the many roads and bridges that have been damaged or destroyed during the recent flooding. And, throughout the Northeast Kingdom, volunteers are stepping up to help clean up areas like the beach at Seymour Lake, muck out and gut homes, and check on residents who have been stranded in their homes. Peter Hirschfeld’s article, Volunteers in the Northeast Kingdom Begin Checking in on Stranded Neighbors, details volunteer efforts, as well as shares stories from some of those hit hardest.

Volunteers are still needed, visit Kingdom United Resilience & Recovery Effort (KURRVE) or Northeast Kingdom Organizing (NEKO) to sign up.
