Who doesn’t like to get outside and play, especially now that we have warmer temps and more hours of daylight. For those who like to be active, but may not own all the required gear, there are two organizations that can help. In Orleans County, Newport Parks & Rec offers bike and kayak rentals at the Gardner Park Skate Shack. Open Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In Caledonia County, NEK Prosper has partnered with LINK Vermont, RecFitStJ, and St. Johnsbury Academy to offer bikes as part of the Lending Gear Library. Adult and youth bikes, helmets, and bike locks are now available for daily rentals free of charge. Visit the online storefront to reserve equipment, and then pick up the gear at Rec Fit.
If you prefer a more relaxing option, there’s lots of live music to enjoy, including Wednesdays on the Waterfront, Summer Strolls at Gardner Park, St. Johnsbury Final Fridays, Bandstand Concerts, Levitt AMP Music Series at Dog Mountain, and Concerts at Lakeside Park in Island Pond.
