NEWPORT — Three Orleans County organizations have been awarded a total of $577,700 in grants from the Vermont Outdoor Recreation Economic Collaborative (VOREC) Community Grant Program. These grants are part of a statewide investment of over $6 million into Vermont’s outdoor recreation economy, supporting 51 projects across the state.
The recipients in Orleans County are:

Newport City Downtown Development: Awarded $200,000 to establish the Newport Outdoor Recreation Collaborative and collectively create and share opportunities for recreation based in downtown Newport.

NorthWoods Stewardship Center: Awarded $195,700 to improve access to NorthWoods Stewardship Center facilities, build an All-Persons trail, and improve the inclusiveness of NWSC’s outdoor education programming.

Town of Glover: Awarded $182,000 to expand infrastructure at Glover Park to include a sensory trail and all-access outdoor play facilities.
These projects aim to enhance recreation economies, improve access to outdoor recreation for all people, and build stronger, more resilient communities in Orleans County.
