Vermont Works for Women’s (VWW) trades training program, Trailblazers, will be offered at the North Country Career Center in Newport from May 20 to July 3. The goal of the program is to empower women and gender-expansive individuals aged 18 and up through a seven-week course that offers training in typically male-dominated fields, including construction and renewable energy.
The free program provides a safe, non-judgmental environment while participants build skills and gain confidence through hands-on experience during shop time and build projects. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a paid onsite work experience with a local employer.
Applications are open at www.vtworksforwomen.org/trailblazers. Those who would like more information about attending the program, as well as businesses and organizations interested in partnership opportunities, can contact Trailblazers Program Manager Missy Mackin at mmackin@vtworksforwomen.org.
