VSO Summer Festival Comes to Burke

Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s TD Bank Summer Festival Tour will make a stop at Burke Mountain on July 1. Argentinian/Italian conductor Michelle di Russo will lead the 50-piece orchestra, which includes guest trumpeter and jazz legend Ray Vega. Concertgoers will hear many familiar songs from artists such as Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Scott Joplin, Thelonious Monk, George Gershwin, John Philip Sousa, and more.

VSO Executive Director Elise Brunelle encourages people to come early - the doors open at 5:30 for picnicking, and Brunelle noted there will be a Musical Petting Zoo, where kids will get to play instruments, such as a trumpet, drum, and violin before the concert and during the intermission. And, after the concert there will be a fireworks show. Brunelle says that when she asks people what their favorite memory of the VSO is, many say it’s the Summer Festival - outdoors under the stars.
