Harvey's Lake VT
Harvey Lake, or Harvey’s Lake as it’s known locally, is also known as the site of Jacques Cousteau’s first dive. As a child, the marine explorer and father of scuba diving attended summer camp in the town of Barnet, Vermont, with his brother. The lake, which covers 351 acres, has a maximum depth of 144+ feet.
Harvey’s Lake Beach, located on the north end of the lake, features a playground, picnic tables, grills, a pavillion and a beach house. At the south end of the lake, on Roy Mountain Road, you’ll find the Public Boat Launch. The size of the lake makes it ideal for boating, waterskiing, tubing, wind surfing and, of course, scuba diving. Those who head to the lake in search of fish won't be disappointed and will find Rainbow and Lake Trout, Chain Pickerel, Yellow Perch, Smelt and Panfish.
