Shadow Lake (Concord) - Caledonia County has its own Shadow Lake, located in the town of Concord. Originally called Hall's Pond, the name was changed in the 20th century when the residents wanted a "more glamorous" name for this popular camping spot. Called Pekdabowk, or Smoke Pond, by the Abenaki, the dark appearance of the water was the reason for changing the name to Shadow Lake. Covering 114 acres, it has a maximum depth of 55 feet, and the public boat access is via a concrete plank. The majority of properties on this lake are located on the northwest edge, providing views of the Presidential Range within New Hampshire's White Mountains. Other cottages and homes scattered around the lake's perimeter.
