Lake Groton VT Waterfront Homes for Sale

Lake Groton - Historically known as Groton Pond, Lake Groton consists of 423 acres and has a maximum depth of 35 feet. A Loon volunteer monitor has been tracking the bird’s activities, and at the end of 2019 noted that 25 loon chicks had been successfully raised on the pond and survived into the months of migration. Signs at the south end of the lake mark their nesting area, so boaters know to avoid the area. Situated within the 26,000-acre Groton State Forest, visitors have a variety of activities available, from camping and hiking to fishing and swimming, as well as mountain bike and horseback riding. Exhibits at the Groton Nature Center focus on the area’s plants and wildlife, and the center hosts several naturalist programs. Boaters could access the lake via a gravel boat launch within the Stillwater State Park, where there is a boat wash station. There is also an area to launch small vessels within Boulder Beach State Park.
