Coles Pond - Located within the 10,826-acre Steam Mill Brook Wildlife Management Area in the town of Walden, Coles Pond is a reservoir that covers an area of 125 acres. The area is popular among bird watchers, with many species of upland songbirds found in the various cover type. Sightings may also include Mallards, Cooper’s Hawks, Canada Geese, Great Blue Heron, Wood Duck, and Hairy and Pileated Woodpeckers. In addition, the pond is one of the sites for the annual Vermont LoonWatch survey. Due to the temperature of the shallow pond, warmwater species, like Smallmouth Bass, Yellow Perch, and Chain Pickerel are common. Residences are located mainly around the southern half of the pond.
