Northern Vermont Real Estate

Northern Vermont Mountain PeakNorthern Vermont has a lot to offer from great skiing and snowmobiling in the winter to gorgeous lakes and mountains in the summer.  The area is made up of many small towns and a few larger ones such as Newport, Derby, St. Johnsbury, and Lyndonville.  Interstate 91 travels through the center of the Northeast Kingdom (NEK), which makes it easily accessible from the North and South. 

The recreational activities and beauty of the landscape draw many vacationers to the area.  The area has a focus on Geotourism, which has been reported in National Geographic.  Geotourism is tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place—its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well being of its residents.  You can learn more about Geotourism at www.travelthekingdom.com/geotourism/

The NEK has a great mix of primary residents and second homeowners.  Home prices can vary drastically from in town fixer uppers in the $50K vicinity to Estates well into the millions.  Land also covers a vast range but an average building lot will typically sell in the $35-45K range.  Overall most people coming from outside feel the real estate prices are very reasonable.
